Anca Vlad, president of Fildas-Catena, has been elected in the European Family Business Board

Anca Vlad, president of the Fildas-Catena Group was unanimously elected as a member of the Executive Committee of the European Family Business Federation at its recent General Assembly in Brussels. The president of Fildas-Catena is already a member of the Board of Directors of the Family Business Network Romania.

“As a first generation owner, Mrs. Vlad founded her pharmaceutical business, the Fildas-Catena Group, in 1991. The entrepreneurial activity of Mrs. Anca Vlad, a prominent personality in the Romanian business world, was recognized by the award of numerous prizes. In 2019 only, Mrs. Vlad was recognized as “The strongest businesswoman” in Romania at the Capital Gala, “The most influential business personality” in Romania at the Forbes Gala and ranked on the 1st place in the Top 50 Women in Economics, awarded by the National Confederation for Women Entrepreneurs (CONAF), within the Women Gala in Economy”, mentions the European Family Businesses website.

Anca Vlad is one of the first Romanian entrepreneurs who, after 1990, succeeded in building a solid family business, that over time became one of the strongest in businesses Romania, with international recognition. As a family business, Fildas Trading was included in the Top 50 Global Challengers 2019, a Citi Private Bank / Camden Wealth initiative, on 15th place, ahead of other family companies, such as Ferragamo or Bavaria Brewery.

The Fildas-Catena Group, the largest player on the domestic pharmaceutical distribution and retail market, includes the pharmaceutical distribution company Fildas Trading and the Catena pharmacy chain. Currently, the group employs more than 7,300 people, as the largest employer in the pharmaceutical field in Romania. Fildas Trading holds 15 logistics centers, and an impressive own distribution vehicle fleet, while Catena currently counts 810 units.

European Family Businesses comprises 15 national organizations representing the interests of the most important family-owned firms in Europe before the European Commission, the Council and the European Parliament. It is the most important networking and lobbying organization for the European entrepreneurs.

Family Business Network Romania (FBN Romania, www.fbn-romania.ro) is the representative association of large Romanian family businesses, affiliated with the European Family Businesses. FBN Romania was founded in 2012, includes 27 companies, with a total turnover of about 3 billion euros and more than 18,000 employees.
