100 YEARS of foreign trade education and 40 YEARS from the establishment of the Faculty of International Economic Relations

Between the 13th and 15th of November 2014, at the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest, the celebration ceremonies of 100 years of foreign trade higher education and 40 years from the establishment of the Faculty of International Economic Relations took place.

On November 13th, 2014, in Aula Magna, at the Academy of Economic Studies in Bucharest, the debate called “The main challenges to a professional’s career in the field of international economic relations – Successful national experiences” was held.

 The debate was followed by the ceremony of the Anniversary Medals, awarded to some representatives of the Romanian academic and business fields that have supported the development of the Faculty of International Economic Relations throughout its 40 years of existence, during which international trade professionals were formed. Together with professors, deans and vice deans, there were, among laureates, notable graduates of the institution: Anca Vlad, President of FILDAS Group, Mihai Bogza, President of Bancpost Administrative Council, Florin Pogonaru, President of the Romanian Businessmen’s Association, Univ. Prof. Dr. Florin Georgescu, Vice President of the Administrative Council and First Vice Governor BNR, Misu Negritoiu, President ING Romania, Dorin Ivascu, President Regional Air Suport, Univ. Prof. Dr. Silviu Negut, Dean (2008-2012) and Vice Dean (1993-2008) of R.E.I., ASE Bucharest, founder and director of the MA of Geopolitics and International Economic Relations, Vice President of the Romanian Geographical Society, Dr. Mihai Ionescu, President of the National Association of Romanian Exporters and Importers, and so forth.

The anniversary reunion – celebrating “100 years of foreign trade education” was chaired by Univ. Prof. Dr. Dumitru Miron, R.E.I. Dean, Anca Vlad, President of FILDAS Group, Univ. Prof. Dr. Gabriela Tigu, Vice Rector of the Faculty of Business and Tourism, the Academy of Economic Relations, Univ. Prof. Dr. Rodica Pamfilie, Dean of the Faculty of Trade of ASE, and Carina Ungureanu, representative of the Senate of ASE students.

The ceremonies started with festive sessions at the Departments of the Faculty of International Economic Relations, the preview of the Exhibition comprising images and artefacts significant for the development of the Romanian foreign trade education; there were evoked some conclusive moments for the Romanian School of International Economic Relations, and were revealed the most representative professional books published by the members of the academic community of the faculty. The highlight of the event was the 5th edition of the International Conference “The Future of Europe.”
